Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church with Father Bill Zandri celebrating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Post #1273 Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home, followed by Rosary services at 7 p.m.

Donald Edward Karp, 71, Rapid City, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at his residence. Don was born Sept 26, 1934, in New Underwood to Edward and Anna (Nachtigall) Karp of Owanka, the oldest of 8 children. After graduating from St. Martin’s, he served 3 years in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from Jan. 14, 1954, to Jan. 11, 1957, when he was honorably discharged. After the military, Don went to school in Chicago to become a mechanic. There he met and married Mary Crocker. They were blessed with 7 children. Donald is survived by his wife Mary Karp, Rapid City; 5 daughters, Sherry and husband Len Rice, Olympia, WA; Annette and husband David Lipp, Rapid City; Margaret and husband Bob Manley, Rapid City; Roxane and husband Jim Quintus, Rapid City; Melanie Karp, Rapid City; 2 sons, Mike Karp, Hermosa; Edward Karp, Appleton, WI; honorary daughter, Brenda Draper, Rapid City; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Fred Karp, Owanka, SD; Kenneth Karp, New Underwood; 4 sisters, Rosalie Stangle, Scenic; Judy Warren, Safford, AZ; Regina McQuistion, Mesquite, TX, and Theresa Moore, Norfolk, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Rita Stangle, and 1 nephew, Allen Stangle.
