Obituary For Helen Louise Sulzle
Helen Louise (Tucker) Sulzle (93) was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Helen was born at home to Leonard Clemeth and Cora Marie (Foer) Tucker on October 21, 1932. As an infant she was made a child of God through baptism. She later confirmed her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
A Service of Victory will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Rapid City, SD. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis SD.
Helen attended elementary and high school in Mobridge, SD and later obtained her GED as an adult. She was united in marriage to Quintin Clarence Sulzle on August 11, 1951. To this union, seven children were born: Paul Sulzle, Vermilion, SD, Colette (Mark) Zarling, Manitowoc, WI, Sylvia (Kirby) Chapman, Bison, SD, Brenda (David) Jung, Waubay, SD, Mark (Jeanne) Sulzle, Hot Springs SD. Cheryl (Steele) Medved, Golden Valley, AZ, and Julie (Tony) Burckhard, Aberdeen, SD.
Quintin’s career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs took the family to several locations over the years affording them the opportunity to live in various places. Helen and Quintin lived in Mobridge, SD; Bottineau, ND; Sundance, WY; Cheyenne, WY; Kayenta, AZ; Lame Deer, MT; Zuni, NM; Pine Ridge, SD; Aberdeen, SD; Hill City, SD; and York, NE. Helen, through her many gifts and abilities, created a home that felt safe, comfortable, and loving for her family of nine.
Helen devoted herself first to being a loving wife and homemaker, raising her children to know their Lord and Savior. She was known for being a gifted seamstress and outstanding cook. She found additional joy and satisfaction interacting with others through her church, community and workplace. A personal achievement included learning to swim at the age of 55.
Helen is survived by two sons, five daughters, thirty-three grandchildren, eighty-four great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Carolyn Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, one granddaughter and one great-great granddaughter, her parents Leonard & Cora Tucker, brothers Myron Tucker (in infancy) Marvin Tucker and wife Virginia, John Tucker and wives Betty & Joann, Charles Tucker, Dewey Tucker (in infancy), sisters Joan Musselman and husband Ray, Zella, Dixie Martinez and husband Joe.
Helen was a faithful and devoted servant of her Lord. She studied God’s Word daily, and her faith sustained her to her final breath. She leaves behind a legacy of strong faith and perseverance, and she will be missed every day. We look forward to joining her in heaven.
Helen’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the Staff at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen for their loving care of our mother and grandmother. A special thank you to Granddaughter Kaylee Sobeski, who was very devoted to her grandmother and spent countless hours making Grandma feel special and loved.
