Helen Marie (Olsen) Sarver went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2017. Helen was born to Nels and Signe Olsen on December 12, 1922 on the homestead east of Faith, SD in a blizzard. When it came time for her to come, Nels said to Signe “Well I’ll hitch up the wagon and go get the doctor.” Signe said, “Oh he’ll never come in a storm like this.” Nels went anyway, and when he got back Signe said to the doctor, “I can’t believe you came.” The doctor said, “Well it was either come or fight Nels!”There were 8 children in the family, Edgar, Omar, Vivian, Ralph, Norris, Thelma, Helen, and Einar. Helen graduated from Faith High School, and attended business school in Rapid City. She married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Sarver on August 8, 1944 in Seattle, Washington. After the war they moved to Rapid City. They had four sons, Alan (Nancy), Don (Shari), Scott (Renee), and Kim (Michelle). Helen stayed home and raised her sons until the youngest was in grade school and then returned to work. She worked at Perpetual Savings and Loan, Herbergers, and for the state of SD to name a few. After they retired, Clyde and Helen loved to travel the country in their motor home, and between that and other trips, she had been in all 50 states.Helen was the Sarver who had all the artistic talent. She loved to paint ceramics, china painting, and about anything else she could paint on. She wrote wonderful poems, mostly about her family. She was always creating crafts and other things to give to family members or sell at the flea markets she and Clyde would stop at on their travels. Her faith was one of the most important things to her, and her church all loved her like she was family. Helen is survived by her brother Einar, her four sons, two grandchildren, Colter and Lathe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
