Long-time Rapid Valley resident Jean Casteel, 87, passed away September 21, 2019. Jean was born on July 6, 1932 in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland to Samuel & Gladys (Trickett) Peach. On May 30, 1953 she married the love of her life, Eugene Casteel who was deployed to Newfoundland while serving in the United States Air Force. Upon discharge, they moved to the Casteel homestead in Vale, South Dakota. In 1960, they moved to Rapid Valley where they raised their three children, Bart, Valerie & Le Ann. Jean leaves behind to celebrate her life & love her three children, daughter-in-law Cathy, sons-in-law Amir & Chris, granddaughters Lindsay & Aliya, grandsons Adam & Eric, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clayton & Janice Casteel, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Irene & Alva Roberdeau, devoted caregiver Billie Jo Lee, and many nieces & nephews in both South Dakota and Canada, as well as life-long friends in Rapid Valley.
