Obituary For John Frederick Baum
John F. Baum, 69 years old, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away August 3rd, of 2026 peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
John Baum was born in Sauk City, Wisconsin to Theodore and Deanice Baum on November 17, 1956. John attended parochial and middle school in Sauk City, WI. John graduated from high school and vocational technical school in Loveland, Colorado in 1974 where he majored in auto mechanics.
John was joined in marriage to Lorene (Lorrie) A. Baum March 3rd, 1979, in Loveland, Colorado. John and Lorrie were blessed with their son Jonathon, November 26, 1995.
John had many skills which allowed him to succeed in many careers including, auto mechanic, labors union, apprenticeship program as cement mason, union cement mason, cabinet maker, assembly worker, purchasing agent, salesman for a large territory, plant manager, and facilities manager at Youth and Family Services until the time of his passing.
John enjoyed many hobbies in his leisure time. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and woodworking. John loved spending time outdoors, time in his woodshop, and time with his family.
John Baum is survived by his wife, Lorrie Baum, son Jonathon Baum (Faith), grandson Theodore Baum, brother Jim Baum (Cheri), brother Don Baum, sister Anne Furr (David), sister Mary Denning (Rick), brother Ted Baum, sister Susan Baum (Mark), and numerous nephews and nieces.
John is preceded in death by brother Charles Baum, father, Theodore Baum, mother, Deanice Baum, and sister-in-law Maureen Baum.
The family of John Baum wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses who went above and beyond to care for our loved one who has now gone home to be with God.

John will be deeply missed he was a great person. He was so very skilled in everything he done. His Witt and humor was second to none. Im so sorry for your loss! I'm saden! Thoughts and prayers 🙏 to your family.

My deepest sympathies to John's family. He was an amazing facilities manager at YFS! He would stop in the nutrition department to have a cup of coffee and chat. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace🙏🏻

I was stunned to hear of John's passing. He was such a creative problem-solver at YFS' Fullerton Farm and helped so much with the Harvest Festival. A couple of years ago, he painstakingly cut about 800 cross-sections of pinecone in his spare time so kids could make refrigerator magnets that looked like flowers. His passing is a huge loss to YFS. His family has my sympathy.

I am so saddened by John's passing. He was the kind of person who never hesitated to jump in and help, no matter what was needed. He was always ready with a smile and had such a warm personality. I will miss joking and laughing with him, as well as the familiar sound of his keys jangling as he walked through the hallways. His kindness and presence will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

My condolences to John's family. He was the best facilities manager at YFS. I was lucky to have worked with him and get to know him and his family. I'm so sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to John's family. John was an AMAZING person to work with. He was always positive, patient, willing to help with anything, and always made us laugh. He will forever be missed.
