Obituary For Joyce E. Gay
Joyce E. Gay, 76, Rapid City, died Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Monument Hospital.
She was born on June 13, 1950 in Sterling, Colorado to Benard and mary Sanders. She worked at Head Skii in Colorado before moving to Rapid City, South Dakota in 1983.
Joyce married Bruce Gay on December 21, 1974 in Longmont, Colorado.
She and her sister, Bena, volunteered in Black Hawk Elementary school for several years as their children grew up. She stayed at home to help raise the kids and in her later years she had fostered 4 children until they were adults.
She is survived by her children Chris LaCuran, Jolene (Chris) Hinckley, Jennifer (Mark) Coatney, Michelle Russum and Jamie Deuter, along with 17 grandkids and over 22 great grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Bruce Gay, son Mike Lacuran, a sister, a brother and her parents.
Funeral services are at Black Hills National Cemetery on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 9:00am followed by a celebration of life at Sioux Park at 10:30am, where we will have a pot luck and share memories of her.
