On December 24th a life dedicated to family and consumed by love was lost. It is with great sadness that we celebrate the life of Karla Ramsdell and the impact she had on the lives of many others. Karla was born in Rapid City,SD on August 26th 1947 to Arthur and Dorothy Gorseth. She will be remembered as being fiercely independent and always marched to the beat of her own drum. She was a loving mother and grandmother who put her children at the center of her world. She was a straight shooter who never pulled any punches and you could always count on her opinion. She never met a stranger and nobody ever left her house hungry. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Karla spent most of her life in Rapid City where she worked through the years at Bob’s Shoe Repair, 2nd Time Around and Rapid City Regional Hospital. She moved to Texas in 2004 where her kids lived. There she worked at Guadalupe Regional Hospital as a registration clerk and then took a position as the director of activities at a private Alzheimer’s home where she really found her calling and made a great impact on many resident’s lives. She moved to Hill City, SD in 2007 and then to Rapid City in 2014 where she enjoyed facilitating bingo and social events with friends and residents of the apartment where she lived.
Karla is preceded in death by her first husband Ronald Comstock and her late husband George Ramsdell, as well as her parents.
