Margaret C. (Marge) Spinar, 97 of Rapid City passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021. Marge was born in Hammil, SD to Ralph and Anna Simunek.
In 1953 she married Edward Spinar, together they shared their lives from Gregory and Dallas, SD later moving to Rapid City. Marge waited tables at the Alex Johnson while Ed was working with his partner at the Gas Light in Rockerville.
In 1971 they purchased the Canyon Lake Club and then sold it in 1972 just before the ’72’ flood. They then purchased the Silver Grill Café in downtown Rapid City and worked there side by side for 25 years, where so many came in for Margie’s special homemade chicken noodle soup, even the flight attendants who then stayed at the Hilton Downtown would ask and take Marge’s soup with them back to Chicago, they never had anything as good as that! Over the years many celebrities passed thru the doors of the Silver Grill, one being Randy Travis, some stars from Dukes of Hazard, the cast from Dances with Wolves and many more. Marge had a unique way with all who came in the Silver Grill Café, she had a very sparkling but yet a spitfire personality that so many appreciated, and speaking of spitfire they always came back.
She was indeed the one with a personality that those who have known her will never forget, will always cherish and remember forever.
Marge is survived by her daughter Debbie (Kevin) Hintz, her son Jim (Trish) Spinar, grandchildren Angel Smits, Matthew Spinar, Rebecca (Ben) Olsen, great grandchildren Abbie (TyRoy) Grant, Brandon Johannesen and Mia Olsen, great-great grandson Boone Grant and one sister Mary Barry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, son Steven in infancy, three brothers, Floyd Simunek, Butch Simunek, Jerry Simunek, three sisters Bernie Forsythe, Eleanor Kling, Deloris Davis and many other wonderful family members and great friends.
