Visitation will be at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in PIedmont, SD from 5 PM to 7 PM  on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with a wake service starting at 7:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Our Lady of the Black HIlls at 11 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2023.  Burial will be on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Selby Memorial Gardens in Selby, SD.

Morris Kosters, 87, of Rapid City, SD passed away on September 10, 2023 in Rapid City, SD.  Morris was born South of Selby, SD in rural Walworth County, SD on February 12, 1936, to Henry J. and Mary Kosters.  The family moved to Illinois in 1937 during the depression.  Morris learned his mechanic trade from his father as a young boy and in 1951 he moved back to Selby, South Dakota and worked at the Oliver shop alongside his father.  In 1953 Morris met Janice Helm and they were married August 4,1956.  To this union four children were born: Franklin, Curtis, Kelly, and Mary.  Morris began his heavy equipment mechanic career in 1963 which took him and his family to various locations throughout South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, and North Dakota finally settling in Belle Fourche, SD in 1972 where he worked as a partner with Bill Nissen Construction.  In 1983, he and Janice purchased land near Rapid City where they lived until 2018 when they sold their acreage and moved to Rapid City.  Morris was preceded in death by his wife Janice, his parents, a sister Florence, and a brother Gene.  He is survived by his sons Frank and Curt Kosters; daughters Kelly (Bob) Bickett and Mary Stern; Grandchildren; Frank Jr. and Steve Kosters; Brandon (Amalia Cantisan) Kosters, Christopher, Juliana, and Sean Kosters; Dan and Tom (Talia) Bickett; Annie (Dan) Shrock, Robert (Karmin) Stern, and Michael Stern; Great Grandchildren; Rachel, Gabriel, Sarah, and Michael Kosters; Damien and Dalia Kosters; Philip, Finley, and Elanor Bickett; Ben and Caleb Shrock; and Isaiah Stern; Siblings Henry Kosters Jr., Betty Schlueter, Carol Badure, and Ed Kosters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
