Nancy Maydith Grace (Roads) Bolyard was called to heaven on May 30, 2022 at the age of 70.
She was born in Boulder, Colorado to Grace (Darling) and Paul Roads and was given the name Nancy after her great-grandmother; Maydith after her grandmothers May and Edith; Grace after her mother. She attended the schools in Lafayette, Colorado and the University of Colorado in Boulder. Marriage brought Richard and her to Rapid City, South Dakota. On June 10, 1972 they lost their house in the flood when it ended up miles downstream, destroyed. Because 238 people were killed, Nancy was so grateful that her friends were okay. Her daughter, Jenni, was born in 1976 with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This gave Nancy the opportunity to meet some wonderful friends. She joined Agape (which means unconditional love) Spiritual Center and met more wonderful friends. In 2010 she fell and broke her back; this put her into a wheelchair.
She was a member of Agape Spiritual Center, First Step Pre-school, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, The ARC, Hopeful Club, and the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities.
Her most treasured memories were the first time her daughter Jenni laughed playing with a doll given to her by her Aunt Marilyn; 1990 adventures in Switzerland, Austria and Paris with her sister, Marilyn and her brother, John; her time at Las Vegas with her classmates; trips to Deadwood with Dawn; being carried in her wheelchair up and down the 8 steps at Agape’s first location; all the joyful assistance given by Bob French, Agape members, TLC staff, Dial-A- Ride, Meals on Wheels and others.
Nancy leaves behind her sister, Marilyn Messersmith (Jordan), Carol, Cynthia Hackney (Hal), niece Emily Boele (Robert) and children Ellie, Charlotte and Owen.
Nancy joined in heaven her parents; daughter Jenni; brothers Paul, John and his son Garrett.
Memorials may be sent to Camp Friendship c/o Stacy Kellogg, 10245 Willmington Dr, Summerset, SD 57718.
