Phane COL Sundquist passed away the morning of June 5, 2021, at the age of 36. Phane was born to Orrin and Zella (Brown) Sundquist on May 20, 1985, and went on to be raised in Wasta, South Dakota. Phane spent much of his early years at the family farm and ranch and then moved with his parents and sister to the “place” in 1995 to take over the operation. Phane was invaluable to maintaining the family farm and ranch and continued to be until his passing.

Phane spent his grammar school days at Wall School (Elementary through High School). He was a beloved student and peer, with many fond memories. Phane graduated high school in 2004 and went on to graduate from college with a degree in Business Administration.

Phane had a few career pursuits during his life that garnered him many dear friends. At the time of his passing, Phane was the foreman for the Pennington County Highway department located in New Underwood and was honored to work for the region he called home.

Phane met the love of his life, Jennifer Watrous, in 2009. Phane and Jennifer were a perfect match for each other and went on to get married on September 4, 2010. From their love, Phane became a father to five children, one of which was lost in utero. There was never a doubt of how much he loved his kids and that love will carry on with them.

Preceding Phane in death are several beloved friends and family. Those most recent are his dad Orrin, his preborn child Flicker, dear friends and mentors Guy Smith and Terry Peters, and his Uncle Bob Culbertson. Phane leaves behind his wife Jennifer, their four children Matilda, Violet, Hazel, and Waylon, his mom Zella, sister Shara (Jeff) Sundquist-Dart, and his nephew Felix Watrous and niece Rayna Dart.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on behalf of his son are being accepted at http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/WaylonsWarriorsRCSD
