Pun received her high school diploma, and became a naturalized US citizen in 1980. Soon after came the birth of her first child Barbara. In 2002 she won a difficult battle with colon cancer, and had a renewed vigor in the new life she had regained. In 2011 she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota to be closer to family. During these few remaining years she spent most of her time between working at Rapid City Regional Hospital, her passion for many of the arts, her love of her South Korean heritage, along with continuing to be a loving mother to her children and grandson.
