It is sad upon a curiosity to have googled m old junior high locker mate to discover Rod has died. I just live in Hill City and don't get the paper so his funeral passed me by. Have such fond memories of school together Rod will always be the smart and funny and talented guy in my memory. In high school there was a national competition for art to hung in the brand new Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC and Rod won that with a painting of a baby sitting on the floor looking over his shoulder at a globe of the earth. As far as know his painting is still there the the collection of that art center. We shared many classes including art and English where he wrote very creatively and with insightful humor. The last we saw each other he had painted that beautiful painting mentioned in the obituary and he was maybe playing in a band. His talents knew no bounds. I am happy to see this photo of him. I didn't know he was still around the area and regret that my life's course took me out of contact with Rod. He was here all along.
