Steve Meyer, age 53 of Rapid City, passed away early Sunday morning, June 12, 2022 in Rapid City.
Steve was born in Algona, Iowa to Gerald and Myrna (Ewoldt) Meyer on July 6, 1968. He attended Kindergarten first and second grade, at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Whittemore Iowa. The school closed and he then attended Elementary, Middle, and High School in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from Algona High School on May 21, 1986, He attended various colleges over the years. In 1992, he moved to Williamsburg, IA and worked at the Evan Picone store in Coralville, IA where he was the manager for a few years. He moved to Iowa City in 1998, and while employed full time at Varsity Cleaners, attended Kirkwood College in Cedar Falls and then transferred to the University of Iowa. He became manager at Varsity Cleaners and remained there until he moved out to Rapid City in November of 2012. After various jobs, he ended up at French Cleaners in Baken Park, Rapid City. He left there at the end of April, 2020 due to the pandemic. After that, he worked for a while at Boyd’s Drug in Baken Park, Family Fare West, and his last job was with McDonald’s on the west side. Due to his health, he quit that in May.
He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Myrna Meyer, sister Stacey (Mick) Moulton, nephews Levi (Abby) Moulton and children Ben and Zoey; McCain (Kris) Moulton and children Emerson and Wesley all of Rapid City, niece, Brittney Peterson and children Julia, Brooklyn and Thad. He has an adopted nephew, Gabriel Thornton of Whittemore Iowa. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, several aunts and uncles and 2 cousins.
