Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to services at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City, followed by burial with military honors at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, SD.

Thomas “Tom” Petersen, 78, of Cawker City, KS passed away on March 6, 2023 in Beloit, KS.
Tom was born in Spearfish, SD to Levi & Patricia Petersen on March 18, 1944. He attended elementary school in Avon, SD and graduated from Spearfish, SD. He married Leota Jean Petersen on August 15, 2003 in Rapid City, SD. He worked as an Over the Road Truck Driver for multiple companies for 40+ years where he received the following awards, Driver of Year, 3 Million Mile Safe Driver which he received a New Semi Truck to drive.
He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Navy. He was involved in the American Legion.
Tom is survived by his wife Leota Jean Petersen. The following step children from his first wife Jackie Petersen: Norma Willier of Presho SD, Yvonne Hurtado of New Jersey, Dianna Duckett (William) of Rapid City SD, Muriel (Mike) Baker of Black Hawk SD, Jeffery Rath of Spokane WA, Michael Rath of Great Falls, MT.
13 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Brother Jim (Ramona) Petersen, 1 Niece & 5 Nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his father & mother, Levi & Patricia Petersen, one brother Robert Petersen, two sisters, Lee Ann Baumgartner & Judy Bracken, his first wife Jackie Petersen, one grandson and one granddaughter.
