Wanda Carol (Robinson) Tribble passed away on March 25, 2024, at the Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.

Carol, as most knew her, was born on July 19, 1938 in McNairy County, TN at home to Cora Lee and Buford Robinson.  They lived in different locations throughout the south and settled in Pekin, IL where she attended and graduated from Pekin High School in 1956.  She worked various jobs in Pekin and later met William “Bill” Tribble and they moved to South Dakota and were married in Lead in July 1967 on her birthday.  They lived in Deadwood and had their daughter, LeAnn in February 1968.

She worked in the cafeteria at BHSU, for Deadwood Public Schools, The Drug Store of Deadwood and then started working for Thorpes Black Hills Gold Jewelry in 1979.  She continued with Thorpes and moved with them as they transitioned to join Landstrom’s in 1994 when she relocated to Rapid City.  She retired from Landstrom’s in 2006.

Carol loved helping others and spent many hours helping get her grandkids transported around the city and area for soccer practices and games during their soccer careers.  She loved watching them play.  She also loved taking drives around the beautiful Black Hills and was very fond of Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park.  She enjoyed watching re-runs of old TV shows which she knew most of the episodes by heart.  Golden Girls, Murder She Wrote and Everybody Loves Raymond were some of her favorites.

She loved spending time with family and cooking family meals for them that included her awesome fried chicken, chicken and noodles, fried pork chops and vegetable soup.  She also was a collector of swans of all types – ceramic, stuffed, wooden, jewelry, etc.  Her family helped build her collection by buying them for her for most holidays.

She was a fan of golf although she never played the game.  She started watching Tiger Woods and got to know many of the players and was hooked.  She knew more about the PGA than most golfers do.  She had some favorites and had some she didn’t care for at all and would let you know that.

She was a very special lady who was a favorite any place she went.  She lived at There’s A Hart assisted living from early 2020.  She wasn’t sure she was going to like it but instantly found an extended family there with the residents and staff.  She enjoyed sharing her recipes with them as well as helping find new ideas for meals.  She really loved it there.

She is survived by her daughter LeAnn (Rodney) Harlan and grandson Zachary (Katrina) Harlan and great granddaughter Kairi.  She is also survived by Evan Wilson and great granddaughter Jordyn Wilson and great grandson EJ Wilson, her sister Betty (Denny) Urish, brothers Scott (Robyn) Busby and Richard Busby, and stepchildren Patty (Donny) Allen family, James (Nancy) Tribble family and Mike (Nadine) Tribble.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Tribble, mother Cora Lee Busby, Father Buford Robinson, step-dad Earl Busby, brothers Larry Busby and Kevin Busby, sister Bonnie Snyder and her granddaughter Jacqueline Wilson.
