Obituary For Alan Bennett
Alan D. Bennett 59, of Rapid City passed away on August 16, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Alan was born September 21, 1956 In Sacramento, California to Theodore and Rhoda Bennett (Fugett). He attended school in both California and South Dakota before joining the United States Army in 1973. During his time with the Army he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar (M-16), Sharpshooter Badge with Hand Grenade Bar. Alan's primary specialty while in the service was Engineering Missle Equipment. After leaving the service Alan worked in custom cabinetry and enjoyed working with ceramic tile. He then went on to work for the South Dakota State Archeology Historical Society as an Archeologist for the next 18 years. Alan was very passionate about this line work. His co-workers remember Alan, as a kind and patient person who always took the time to teach others. Alan is survived by his Wife, Julie Bennett (Scheckel), sons, Alan Jr., Jeremiah, Step Son, Earl Hernandez, Step Daughters, Jorden Hernandez (Aaron), Becca Hernandez(Antonio ), Betty Hernandez (Brett). His Mother Rhoda Cummings, Brothers, Vance Bennett, Dale Cummings (Rhonda), Sisters , Vickie, Patty, and Rhoda Ann and numerous grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.
