Obituary For Alphus Justice Traywick
Al Traywick, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the age of 87.
Born on September 8, 1937, in Billingsley, Alabama, Al lived a life rooted in faith, service, and devotion to family. After graduating from High School in Chipley Florida, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, until being honorably discharged. He then explored other vocations before continuing his career as a civilian contractor for the Air Force until retirement.
Al was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Traywick, and his parents, Alphus and Jannettie Traywick, sisters Mildred, Elsie, Audrey, and brother William. He is survived by his son, Bill Traywick; his daughter, Alyssa (Jeremy) Campbell, and niece Delene. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith in his grandchildren: Megan (Jared) Anderson, Cameron Traywick, Brooklyn, Conner, Maxson, and Evan Campbell. His great-grandchildren—Kaidence, Avaah, Jayce, and Emmery Anderson—will carry forward the joy and warmth he brought to every family gathering.
As a faithful and active member of Liberty Baptist Tabernacle, Al found great strength and purpose through his church community. A passion of his was fellowshiping with his senior group printing and collating scripture to be sent around the world helping to save lost souls for Christ. In his free time, he loved to fish and hunt pheasants, often sharing stories from those peaceful moments in nature. A proud supporter of University of Alabama sports, Al never missed a chance to cheer on the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!
Al will be remembered for his deep faith, his dedication to his family, and the quiet strength that defined his life. He touched many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit. He will be greatly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Liberty Baptist Tabernacle or a veteran’s charity of your choice in his memory.
