Obituary For Alvin H. Stulken

Alvin “Al” Stulken, 85, of Rapid City, died April 18, 2008, at Golden Livingcenter Black Hills.He was born June 14, 1922 in Plankinton, SD to Benjamin and Anna (Heien) Stulken.He enlisted and served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater for the duration of World War ll. He served on a Troop ship.On December 31, 1951 he married Geraldine Wohlhueter in Rapid City, SD. He was a devoted husband and father. His entire working career was spent selling auto parts for Puritan Supply Company and Johnson Machine.He was a member First Presbyterian Church of Rapid City, VFW, Elks Club, American Legion, and Optimist Club. For many years, Al enjoyed hunting pheasants, fishing and attending stock car races. Al was very passionate toward small children and loved being around them.The last six years of his life, he lived at the Golden Livingcenter on North 7th St. where he enjoyed joking with the nurses and playing bingo. Al was especially proud of being crowned King for his great sense of humor and caring nature.He is survived by his one son, James Kingman (Laurel) of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special niece, Suzanne McKinstry; a sister-in-law, Mavis Steiner of El Cajon, CA.He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Geraldine; one sister, Margaret Luedtke; one brother James Stulken.
