Obituary For Ardyce Heeren Meisenholder
Ardyce Heeren Meisenholder, daughter of Arthur Heeren and Adeline Leuning Heeren, peacefully passed away January 26, 2016 after spending hours with her loving family. Ardyce was born July 29, 1927 in Del Rapids, SD. She was the youngest of four children. Ardyce finished high school in Morningside, IA where she lived with her aunt and uncle from the age of 16 due to the premature death of her mother and father. She went on to attend South Dakota State University and later transferred to the University of South Dakota. On May 29, 1946 she married Jack Meisenholder and later gave birth to three daughters. Ardyce was an avid business woman. She began her business adventures as the owner of The Looking Glass in Vermillion, SD and later became a licensed Realtor. She and Jack created, owned and managed Meisenholder Real Estate together until Jack’s death in 1980. She continued to run Meisenholder Real Estate for 15 years after Jack’s death. In her spare time, she was involved in many activities. She was a 50+ year member of PEO where she held every office. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was later active in the Theta Alumni Association in various positions including Treasurer for 30 years. She was a member of the USD Coyoettes, the Ladies Golf Association, Knitting Club and several Bridge Clubs in Vermillion. She was also actively involved in church activities at the United Church of Christ in Vermillion. Ardyce was a capable, hard working woman with a big heart. She enjoyed being in the prairie wind and the hot weather. She also enjoyed entertaining, playing Mahjongg, and playing golf. She resided in Vermillion, SD for 60 years before moving to Rapid City, SD in 2006 to be nearer to her immediate family. Most recently she was a resident of Good Samaritan Nursing Home, in New Underwood, SD where she received wonderful and loving care. She was preceded in death by her husband (Jack), her parents (Arthur and Adeline), her sisters (Arlene and Mavis), and her brother (Vernon). She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Meisenholder of West Chicago, IL, June Kelley (Bob) of Rapid City, SD, Diane Helmer (Thom) of Rapid City, SD, and four grandchildren, Heather Boldin-Kuntz (Bill), John Hermanson, Jamie Applegarth (Josh), Trevor Helmer and two great grandchildren, Callie and Alexander.
