Obituary For Arleen Huether

Mary Arleen Huether, 83, Rapid City went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 20, 2013. She was born August 26, 1929 to Vincent and Mable (Faye) Durisch in Emery, SD. The family moved to Sioux Falls when Arleen was a child. Arleen would go to the Arkota Ball Room on Saturday evenings to the dance. This is where she met Wilfred ‘Will’ Huether. They were married August 26, 1953. They went to Rapid City for their honeymoon and to start their lives together. Arleen worked at Kresges and then onto Kmart for 17 years before retiring. Arleen and Will had three children, Alan, Lana and Dale. She was the most devoted mother a child could have with an unconditional love; especially to her son Dale who had special needs. Arleen and Will devoted their lives providing care for Dale at home well into their 80’s. Arleen looked forward to her outings with her girlfriends once a month on Saturday when they would go for lunch, always choosing a different place to eat. They would chat up a storm and then take a ride in the hills. She loved to garden and go shopping, always finding the latest styles for her wardrobe. Her favorite things were shoes and watches and if it was red, ‘jackpot’ as that was her favorite color. She loved holidays, but her special one was Christmas. She had a special fund set aside so she could decorate and most of all go shopping to buy gifts for her loved ones. Giving was the greatest joy of her life. She was always giving, loving and caring for everyone else - - - that was Arleen. Blessed to have shared her life, her husband of 59 years, Will; her son Alan (Jodi) Huether, all of Rapid City; her daughter Lana (Tom) Price and grandson Jeff Price of Odessa, FL and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Delores and her beloved son Dale.
