Obituary For Ashley Dana Bethke

Ashley Dana Bethke of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. Ashley was born August 6, 1984, in New York and spent the majority of her childhood in Gilbert, Arizona. Shortly after graduating from high school, she was accepted to University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona where she met the love of her life, her best friend, and soulmate Kristopher. They married and eventually moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Ashley completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. It was in Las Vegas that Ashley and Kristopher welcomed their miracle child, Logan. Together the three of them moved overseas to beautiful Ely, England where they made special memories by going on many adventures together and traveling to various countries such as Germany, Ireland, Italy, and France to name a few. While in England, they grew their family by becoming parents to their British dapper cat, Ragnar. Ashley worked as a teacher while in England and made some of the most wonderful friends, while beginning her graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma where she obtained her master’s degree in international relations.

The family moved back to the US and settled in Rapid City, South Dakota, where they continued to make great friends who would become family. It was in Rapid City; they completed their family by choosing Twila as their princess cat. Ashley was Twila’s human and work buddy while she would work from her home office.

Ashley and Kristopher have spent over 23 years together and built an amazing life filled with love, friendship, and pure happiness. Ashley enjoyed watching their son participate in sports, but especially ice hockey. Ashley enjoyed reading, loved the beach, dabbled into raising chickens, and always loved a good mani/pedi. Ashley was a kind, smart, and beautiful woman who made anyone who she allowed into her life feel special just by knowing her. Ashley is survived by her husband Kristopher, son Logan, and her siblings. A memorial service will be held at BEHRENS WILSON on June 18, 2026 from 2pm.

    When we lose someone we love, We must learn not to live without them. But, to live with the love they left behind. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to meet in person. However, through Jenn's love for Ashley, and her family, we feel like we've known her for decades.     Ashley and I were besties in high school. Senior year we had a falling out over a boy. She thought he was bad for me...she was right. A couple years later we reconnected through one of her friends. I'm so glad we did. I always hoped one day she'd relocate to Florida due to her husband's job. You always think you'll have time to see someone eventually, and then it's too late. It took me 2 decades to find the kind of friend that reminded me of the friendship she and I had. Friday I asked my late Dad to meet her at the gates if anything happened to her so she wouldn't be afraid or alone. They always had a special place in their hearts for each other. A heart of Gold, a Beautiful soul, God needed his Angel to come back home. Pussycat and Sparky 4ever ❤️

    Ashley words can't describe how much you will be missed!!! It's still very shocking to process this huge loss to all of us who loved you, admired you and very much looked up to you. I will truly miss you so very much, your kindness and soft heart, how mindful and considerate you were of others, your politeness, your beautiful gifts to our daughter who loves you and will miss you tremendously too.     What I wouldn't give to hug you one more time sister. Thank you for the joy you brought in my life, thank you for the amazing little girl you were, thank you for showing me unconditional love and giving me the confidence to know how to be a good mom, and thank you for how you loved your nieces. From watching your favorite character Elmo, to making your favorite desserts times with you were always a blessing (Even when I was to stupid to realize). I know you will continue to watch over your husband and son. You were definitely a shining bright light and you will be missed tremendously. Until we meet again little sister, I love you.

    I have so many happy, precious memories of the time I spent with Ashley when you lived here in Ely. Trips to National Trust properties, days out with the boys, going to the theatre in London to see Wicked and our amazing day at Wimbledon are just a few of these memories. But the times that I remember most are the many hours we spent just sitting and chatting, with numerous mugs of tea. She was always the most welcoming and amazing hostess in your home, inviting us to share in wonderful Thanksgiving meals and celebrating New Year's Eve together. I remember the last time we saw you all, just before you left the UK, when we went trick or treating with you on the Base. Oscar and Evie had never seen so many sweets! So many memories which I will treasure forever. She was truly one in a million, such a special person, and I can't come to terms with the fact that she has gone. I always looked forward to the day we saw each other in person again and could give each other a hug again. She was an amazing friend and I feel so lucky to have had her in my life. She will be so missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Kris and Logan, you are always in our thoughts.

    Ashley, I still can't believe you're gone. My mind simply can't process that you're no longer here. We first met when our boys started nursery together at Spring Meadow in Ely. I had just had a baby, and it was as though you knew I needed a friend. You welcomed me with your warmth and kindness, introducing me to the world of American candy, Hungry Jack pancakes, and Bath & Body Works candles. We shared a love of Mary Poppins, Beverly Hills 90210, and Downton Abbey, and I will always treasure those conversations and memories. Your boys adored you, and although it was never easy when Kris was working away, you continued to support him while being the most incredible mum to Logan. Your love and devotion to your family shone through in everything you did. I always hoped that one day I would see you again in Ely and that we would enjoy an afternoon tea together, catching up as though no time had passed. You meant so much to so many people, and I am deeply saddened that your journey through life was far too short. Thank you for your friendship, your kindness, and the memories you leave behind. Sleep well, beautiful girl. You will be greatly missed. xx

Kris, I would always say to your mom that you could see the love that you and Ashley have for each other. When Logan came along, he completed your family.     Kris, Logan and family, I'm so sorry for your unimaginable loss. I first met Ashley when she was Jack's Year 2 teacher, and one of my favourite memories will always be World Book Day- Ashley opening the door in the most amazing Mary Poppins outfit. She absolutely won World Book Day! I was then lucky enough to spend time with Ashley as a friend, visiting Winter Wonderland in London, doing crafts at Halloween, and sharing quiet moments in her beautiful garden. I'm so grateful for those memories.
