With our hearts forever broken, we share the passing of such a beautiful soul, Aspen Rayne, who left this world on September 4th, 2025, at the age of 23. She was our sunshine, our laughter, and our joy—a bright soul who made the world better simply by being in it.
Aspen went to school in Rapid City, SD and graduated from Central High School in 2020. She excelled in every subject, especially math and computers. Aspen moved with her family to Abilene Texas in 2020, shortly after moving to Golden Colorado in 2021 and most recently, Aspen moved back to Abilene Tx.
Aspen had a heart that cared deeply for others and a spirit that was both gentle and strong. She had a natural talent for technology, she was always eager to learn and create. She also loved hiking and traveling. She loved seeing new places and trying new foods. She brought light and kindness wherever she went. Her smile could brighten the darkest days, and her love will remain with us always.
She leaves behind her mother Vanessa Red Bird of Abilene Texas, her father Jordan Newman of Rapid City, SD; maternal Grandmother, Corinne Red Bird of Abilene TX; paternal grandmother, Raylene Stonum and paternal grandfather, Mike Stonum, of Rapid City, SD; Three sisters, Jasmine Red Bird, Sacressa Marshall and Alina Newman, all of Rapid City; three brothers, Jordan jr. and Kane Newman of Rapid City, SD and Connor Vodicka of Vancouver, WA; three uncles, Cedric LeClaire, Torrian Webb and Dakota Stonum of Rapid City, SD; one aunt, Tara Long of Rapid City, SD; Three nephew, Vayden and Vaughn Vodicka of Vancouver, WA and Baby Athen Jay Little Thunder of Rapid City, SD and one niece, Vayla Vodicka of Vancouver, WA. and countless others who were blessed to know her.
Aspen was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Harold Red Bird, uncle Sebastien Bernamont, and uncle Dallas Quick Bear.
Pallbearers will be: Cedric LeClaire, Antonio Little Thunder, Xavier Bailey, JayJay Little Wounded, Lance Frazier and Keenan Little Wounded.
Honorary pallbearers include: Acacia Boyd, Julia Kulpa and the Kulpa family, Angie Westby and family, Keira Gardner and family, Shawna McCloskey and family, Bonnie LeBeau and family, Heather LeBeau and family, Shelly Norman and family, Kimberly Clifford and family, Nicole Prairie Chicken and family, Charmagne Means and family, Sophie Little Wounded and family, Aaliyah LeClaire, Veronica LeClaire, Lacy LeClaire and family, Bernadine LeClaire-Little Thunder, Alice LeClaire, Charlene LeClaire and all family and friends who loved her dearly.
Aspen will be cremated afterwards. We invite all who loved her to join us in honoring the beautiful person she was and the everlasting mark she left on our lives.
Our sweet Aspen Rayne, you will forever be missed and endlessly loved.
