Obituary For Avery Thomas and Carol Janice Mullings
Carol Janice Mullings, 83, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Rapid City.
Carol was born in Duluth, Minnesota, to Albert and Isabella (Demers) Bard on December 17, 1943. She attended Nettleton Elementary and Central High School in Duluth, Minnesota. She completed her studies at the Duluth School of Beauty. She married Avery Thomas Mullings on September 25, 1987. She worked as an Operating Manager for Super 8 Motel in Webster, South Dakota, and the Crime Victims’ Compensation Program, within the Missouri Department of Public Safety in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Carol is survived by her sons, Gregory Erlandson (Amy) and their children Elizabeth and Trevor; Robert Thorsen (Catherine) and their children Parker and Kassidy; and her daughter-in-law, Josephine Erlandson, and her daughters Alicia (Scott) Leeman and Michelle (Jared) Weiler, and their children Olivia and Sylvie. She is also survived by her brother Dennis (Jaqueline) Bard, and their children Thomas and Wendy Weiser.
Carol was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Erlandson.
Avery Thomas Mullings, 80, of Rapid City, passed away on June 26, 2025, in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Tom was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to James and Margie (Simmons) Mullings on May 2, 1945. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in Longview, Texas. He married Carol Janice (Bard) Mullings on September 25, 1987. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed in North Dakota. He worked as a telecommunications field engineer for MCI for several years. Tom was a master woodworker and craftsman.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Lori (Bobby) Reed, and son Joe (Sandra) Mullings. He is also survived by his sister, Melissa, and brother Bob Mullings. Tom is preceded in death by his sons Philip and Michael Mullings.
Memorials may be given to Monument Hospital Hospice House. Carol and Tom’s family wish to extend their sincere thanks to Pastor Deb Hanna, Monument Health Hospice House, Monument Hospital, and the wonderful people who made their lives complete.
