Obituary For Berneil E. Christofferson
Berneil E. Christofferson, 84, Rapid City , died Monday, November 19, 2007 at Golden Livingcenter Prairie Hills. He was born November 27, 1922 in Roberts County, SD to Oscar and Francis (Richard) Christofferson. He grew up in that area and entered the US Army on August 31, 1944. He served during WW II and received the Bronze Star for ground combat in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was honorably discharged on June 10, 1946. He married Erma Lawseng in 1955. They lived in Watertown where he began working for SD Concrete Products. They moved to Rapid City in 1965 and he was promoted to plant supervisor. He retired from the plant in 1987 after 33 years of employment. He enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. He also liked working on his home, gardening and canning. He could make almost anything as well as fix almost anything that was broken. He is survived by 2 daughters, Karen and Randy Mack, Black Hawk, Cindy and Marv Letellier, Kadoka; grandson, Jeremy and wife Jen Schaeffer, Rapid City; granddaughter, Nicole and husband Dave Huber, Parmalee; 7 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Kay and Alvin Amy, Gloria Stromseth all of Watertown, Elaine and Alvin Aker, Waubay; 3 brothers, Lloyd and Sandra Christofferson, Summit, Gerald Christofferson, Sauk Centre, MN; Forrest and Gladys Christofferson, Minneapolis, MN and a sister in law, Helen Christofferson. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 28, 1988, son, Randy, grandson, Jamie, a great grandson, Parker Grant and a brother, Revay ‘Chubby’ Christofferson.
