Obituary For Billie R. Wright

Billie R. Wright, 77, Rapid City, died Sunday May 6, 2007 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Billie was born to Daniel and Dorcas (Gibbs) Wright in Traverse City, MI on May 4, 1930, where he grew up and was educated until he entered the US Air Force in 1947. While in the Air Force, he served in Ireland, Newfoundland, Korea, London and in various places in the US. He retired from Ellsworth AFB on May 1, 1974. Billie married Mabel R. Huntley near Traverse City, MI on May 9, 1953. After his retirement from the Air Force, he attended National College of Business receiving his Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Most recently he did various jobs in the area working at the commissary at EAFB. Billie was known as “Dad” at the NCO club. Billie was active in the Rapid City Club for Boys since 1973. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with children. He is survived by his wife, Mabel R. Wright, Rapid City; 3 daughters, Linda Oliver, Mt. Home, AR; Ruth Huber, Rapid City; Dorcas Hern, Rapid City; 5 sons, James Wright, Odessa, TX; William Wright, Rapid City; Willard Wright, Tucson, AZ; Melvin Wright; Kenneth Wright, both of Rapid City; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Donald Wright; Wilbur ‘Len’ Wright, both of Traverse City, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Dorothy Forton; 1 brother, Kenneth Wright; 1 granddaughter, Samantha Hern and 2 great grandchildren, Braiden and Wilson Huber.
