Obituary For Boni Kay Dye

Boni Kay Dye (Mahaffey), “Sissie,” was born on June 27, 1961, in San Diego, California, and passed away on December 21, 2025, in Rapid City, South Dakota, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, creativity, and strength.

Boni was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. She is survived by her beloved husband, Brian L. Dye; her children, Casey G. Kellum, Jake E. Morton, and Trista K. Hutchinson; and her cherished grandchildren, Imogen J. Anderson, NaKea R. Anderson, Joslynn E. Morton, Canaan A. Morton, Hadley R. Morton, Natalie M. Morton, and Hayden L. Hutchinson, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Known for her unstoppable work ethic, Boni dedicated nearly 30 years of service to Walmart, where her dependability, determination, and laughable jokes left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. She was a gifted artist who loved crafting and painting, using her creativity as a source of joy and comfort.

Boni had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and was famous for her well-loved “dad jokes.” She truly loved life and embraced it fully, quirks and all. Along with her creative passions, it gave her pure joy for collecting creepy doll heads, a hobby that perfectly reflected her playful spirit and unique personality. Some of her happiest moments were spent riding Harleys with her husband, enjoying the freedom of the open road and the adventure of the ride.

A celebration of life will be held in late spring or early summer of 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a woman whose spirit, humor, creativity, and love will never be forgotten. To find more information, see Facebook Events: Boni “Sissie” Dye Celebration of Life.

Our Gardening Angel Echoes of her light . Beneath the soft veil of morning's first light. She slipped away, Silent as night, My Aunt who carried the day in her smile, Has journeyed ahead, Yet lingers awhile. Her laughter, like music, now quiet and still, Yet in every breeze I feel her will. To comfort to guide to offer her hand, Even from where she now makes her stand, The world has grown dim without her grace, But the sun remembers her radiant face, And the stars, they shine a little more bright, For they now carry her warmth in their light, Her love was a garden, endlessly wide, Where every sorrow was gently united, Now in the soil of memory deep, Her spirit blooms in the dreams we keep, Through tears may fall and the heart may ache, Her kindness remains like ripples on a lake, In every life she touched, in every path she paved, Her legacy lives, cherished and saved, So rest, Dear Auntie, in the arms of peace, Your Journey fulfilled your love's sweet release, And know , In our hearts you forever reside , A guiding star on life's gentle tide. Rest In Peace Aunt Sissy , Love Sunshine
