Obituary For Burton Eugene Crawford

Burton Eugene Crawford, 89, Rapid City passed away Monday Feb. 20, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospice House. Gene was born in Wakonda, SD on Sept. 16, 1922 to Burton and Nora (Hoffert) Crawford. He graduated from Wakonda High School in 1941 and enlisted in the US Navy Air Corp in 1942. He was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1945 he married Dell Tew. He married Dorothy Aigner in 1954. He made his home in Rapid City where he worked for Bell Telephone Company for 38 years as a toll tester. He installed communication systems for businesses, hospitals and friends in his spare time. Gene was a life member of the VFW; the Masonic Lodge; the American Legion and the Elks Lodge. He is survived by his three brothers, Joe, Robert and Richard Crawford all of Rapid City; his son Michael Crawford and his twin daughters Kate and Rebecca; Racine, WI; his daughter Barbara Crawford and her children, Maret Hawley and Antione Pepino and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, Nov. 6, 1996; his parents; 3 brothers, Melbourne, Charles ‘Chuck’ and Earl ‘Weenie’ and one sister, Barbara Kitterman.
