Obituary For Calvin 'Cal' Droppers

Calvin “Cal” Droppers, 71 of Rapid City died Monday, August 17th, 2009 after his battle with Dementia. Cal was born to Henry and Henrietta (Lightenburg) Droppers on June 27, 1938 in Miller, SD. Cal married June Gerlach on July 16, 1963; they resided in Mitchell SD, where Cal was a photographer. Cal and June were blessed with two children, Peter and Darcy. In 1968 Cal and June moved their family to Rapid City, and Cal began his career in house painting. Cal loved all of his family and not enough can be said about his caring and giving personality. Cal enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, family BBQs, and being with his kids and grandkids. Cal will be missed immensely by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife June; two children, Pete (Jaime) Droppers, Rapid City and Darcy Droppers, California; three grandkids, Peter Droppers II, Rapid City; Samantha (Scott) Smith, Ramstein Air Base, Germany; Zachary Droppers, Rapid City; one great-grandchild, Quentin Martin, Rapid City; one brother Mel Droppers, Yankton, SD; one sister Sue Harvey, Miller, SD. Cal was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Morris & Lyle and one sister Evelyn.
