Obituary For Carol Ann Geldert

Carol Ann Geldert, 66, Rapid City died Friday, June 18, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital’s Comfort Care.Carol was born on March 8, 1945 to George S. and Berniece (Storms) Legge in Winner, S.D. In July of 1948 the family moved to Clearfield, S.D., where her parents owned and operated Legge Garage. Carol attended Clearfield School from 1st through 8th grade. She graduated from Winner High School in 1963. After graduation Carol worked for the States Attorney in Winner. In 1965 she married John Scherer and eventually moved to Rapid City, they divorced in 1981. While in Rapid City she worked for Brown Drug, eventually hiring on as a dispatcher for approximately 10 years at the Pennington County Sheriff’s Department. In 1986 she went to work for Black Hills Ammo she was still employed there at the time of her death. Carol married Bob Geldert on July 23, 1988; together they had many adventures traveling with the Blue Knights and visiting family and friends.Carol was devoted to her family and friends. She adored and spoiled her animals, loved the outdoors and gardening. She also enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, and motorcycle rides. Carol is survived by her husband, Bob, Rapid City; stepdaughter Marsia (Shane) Geldert-Murphey, Glen Carbon, IL; stepson Robert (Karen) Geldert, Edwardsville, IL; four grandchildren Tanner Geldert, Bridget Geldert, Gillian Murphey and Myles Murphey all of Illinois; one sister, Joyce (Jim) Kauer, Rapid City; two brothers, Kelly (Robyn) Legge, Big Horn, WY; and Loren (Deb) Legge, Rapid City; nieces Jennifer (Jason) Totten, and Halley Legge both of Rapid City; nephew Lander Legge, Rapid City; as well as many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents George C. and Amelia Legge, Joseph and Cresenthia Storms.
