Obituary For Carol JoAnn Hatch

Carol JoAnn Hatch, age 90, peacefully made her journey home to the Lord on Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by love of her family.

Carol was born on October 16, 1935, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Freeman and Helen (Parkinson) Weese. She spent most of her beautiful life in Rapid City, creating countless cherished memories with her family and her two beloved sisters. The three shared a close bond, especially during their joyful childhood years—many of which were spent at church.

Carol attended Sioux Falls Christian College for one year and upon returning home, she met the love of her life, Allen Hatch. They were married on August 12, 1955, and shared 68 wonderful years together. Carol was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to their two children, David and Jennifer. She also worked for many years at Hills Gas, which later became Tico Gas.

Throughout the years, the family lived in several states, including Nebraska, Montana, and California—but South Dakota was always home. Carol had a deep love for reading, puzzles, the colors and scents of fall, and anything adorned with apples. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was unmatched. A faithful and loving woman, Carol cherished her relationship with the Lord, her family, and her church community.

Carol is survived by her children: David (Sheryl) Hatch and Jennifer (John) Tippmann Grandchildren: Dustin (Jayme) Hatch, Trevor (Alexa) Hatch, Alex (Billie) Tippmann, Samantha Tippmann, Jennifer Lee (Micheal) McPeak, and Susan (Aaron) Dodd. Her sisters, Sharilyn (Larry) Rueppel and Janice Outland.

She also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Oakleigh and Tenleigh Hatch, Rhett and Ridge Hatch, Audrey Zacher, Charlie Tippman, Gage and Leeden McPeak, Jackson, Aubrey, and Saylor Dodd.

Carol is fondly remembered by countless extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen; her parents; her granddaughter, Cara; and Cara’s husband, Jon Zacher.
