Obituary For Charles William 'Chuck' Cordes

Charles William ‘Chuck’ Cordes, 51, Rapid City, died Monday June 21, 2010. He was born March 12, 1959 in Rapid City to George and Mavis (Johnson) Cordes. On Feb. 6, 1988, Chuck married Jill Backes in Rapid City. Chuck was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. He was a good friend, generous with his time and always willing to help however needed. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, listening to his old albums, fixing up vehicles and most of all he loved spending time with his granddaughter, Cerissa. Chuck is survived by his wife Jill Cordes; 2 daughters, Jessica (Chad) Hein and Ashley Cordes (Phil Mullins); his son Brad Cordes all of Rapid City; 1 granddaughter Cerissa Hein; his mother Mavis Cornellius, Seattle, WA; mother and father-in-law, Jessie and Lawrence Backes, Rapid City; 3 sisters, Jerroyce (Rex) Basham, Pittsburgh, PA; Cindy Riter, and Georgeann Cordes, both of Rapid City and 5 brothers, Dan (Donna) Rommel, Rockerville; Butch (Darlene) Cordes, Rapid City; Rocky (Billie) Rommel, Hermosa; Grant Cornellius and Greg Moak both of Washington. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother and his paternal and maternal grandparents. A special thanks to all of Chuck’s friends at AA, you’ll never know how much you have helped him change his life for the better. Chuck, we all love and miss you and you will always be with us!
