Obituary For Cloa Kemble

Cloa Kemble, 102, Westhills Retirement Community, Rapid City, passed away Friday October 19, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospice House of natural causes.Cloa was born to Sanford H. and Catherine ‘Louise’ (Ratliff) Williams in Ethel Missouri, December 12, 1909. The family moved to Spearfish, SD and finally Deadwood, SD where she completed schooling and met her future husband, Howard Kemble.She moved to California and worked there for some years, then returned to the Black Hills where she married Howard, December 12, 1945 upon his return and discharge from the US Army after serving at Iwo Jima in the Pacific Theater of WW II.She worked for several years for the Telephone Company and then Sears Roebuck and Company from which she retired.IN 1984, Cloa and Howard moved into Westhills Village Retirement Community where they both resided until their deaths.Cloa was an active member of several organizations during her lifetime, among them being: Daughters of the American Revolution(DAR); Telephone Pioneers; a member and past president of Zonta Club and most importantly her member ship at Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School for a period of 8 years, sang in the choir and was a past treasurer of St. Ann’s Guild. She thoroughly enjoyed bridge and crafting of different kinds and made several items for charitable causes. She also did a lot of genealogy work regarding her family roots.She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Tremble, Schoolcraft, Michigan; ; grandson, Steven Matson, granddaughter, Melissa Bailey; great grandson, Nathan, Huntington Beach, CA; sister, Yvonne Hanson, Roseville, CA; special niece, Marilyn Jahnke and husband Gary, Gillette, WY and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends with whom she actively kept in contact to the time of her death.She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents; infant brother, Leon; brothers, Harold, Hubert Emery and; sister, Zelma, Lorraine, Dortha and Jean.
