Obituary For Daniel Robert Pulse

Daniel Robert Pulse was born on February 11, 1951, to Betty and Robert Pulse in Platte, South Dakota, and passed away on January 12, 2026, in the beautiful Black Hills.

Daniel grew up on the family farm in rural Brule County. He attended Torrey Lake school and then Platte High School. After graduation he set off for Chicago and eventually returned to South Dakota.

Upon returning to SD he met his wife of 54 years Linda Larsen. They were married in 1972 - they welcomed three children Jody, Patrick, and Staci. They lived in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, and eventually settled in Western South Dakota. They made their home in Hill City.

Dan was a lover of adventure. He was an over the road trucker for many years, then moved into the sawmill industry - where he was a foreman at the planer in Hill City. Dan was also involved in the development of the Hill City Ambulance and was an EMT.

For many years Dan struggled with alcoholism and on December 31, 1996, he made the decision to choose sobriety. Dan found support and comfort in alcoholics anonymous and spent the last 29 years of his life choosing sobriety.

Another proud accomplishment was the planning and building of a home. Dan went on to open a successful car dealership and then a bicycle shuttle business and spent many years sharing his love of the hills with many tourists who became friends.

Dan was a gentle spirit with a kind soul. He never met a stranger and always had a good story to share with those who had the privilege to know him.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, and his son Patrick.

He is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Jody (Jay) and Staci (Toy), six beautiful grandchildren- Harley, Adalin, Samuel, Willow, Autumn, and Avyella. His brother Phil (Nancy), sister Marianne (Bob), many nieces, nephews, and a large extended group of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alano Society Rapid City at 325 Deadwood Avenue Rapid City, SD 57702 in his honor.

A service to honor Dan will be on April 25, 2026, at 2pm at the Little White Church in Hill City, South Dakota, this will be followed by a private burial in his family plot in Platte, South Dakota, at a later date.
