Darlene and Buck owned several Rapid City, South Dakota businesses, including mobile home parks and other property rentals. They enjoyed participating in many local clubs and activities, including the VFW, Black Hills Snowmobile Club, bowling, classic car clubs and especially racing their # 57 Chevy at Black Hills Speedway, where they shared many great memories, earned numerous trophies and made longtime friendships.

Darlene was a gifted seamstress and talented artist, winning countless ribbons and awards every year at the Central States Fair as a member of the Black Hills China Painters Club. She excelled at painting many different subjects on a variety of mediums, from flowers to wildlife and lifelike portraits.

Most recently Darlene was a member of the Word of Hope Church in Rapid City, South Dakota, where she made many close friends. Additionally, she formed new friendships when she moved to There’s A Hart assisted living facility in May 2023. She enjoyed attending Thursday luncheons and dances at the Minneluzehan Senior Citizens Center.

Lovely friend and soul mate for many years when I met her at Edgewood Assisted Living and helped advocate and care for her. She was so excited to move back in her own manufactured mobile home. So many treasures there to sort through and find. Precious memories, laughter and tears, as she talked about family and granddaughters and their children and loved when they called or visited. Great memories and we developed a close friendship and it continued as we shared our hearts. Her commitment to learning and understanding the bible was so important to her and she treasured her friends and Pastor Lyz & Dean. Darlene will always be remembered and loved. Miss her already.... planning to see her again in heaven and so grateful she is free of pain and heartbreak. ShellyAnn

Darlene was a great friend of mine for many years. I have so many fond memories of her and Buck and we shared many fun times together. Our friendship goes back to 1986. I am so sad that she had no family after the death of her husband Buck. We talked many times of how that hurt her. But Darlene had many friends that loved her and we will all cherish our wonderful memories. Rest In Peace Darlene. I will never forget you. Joanie
