Obituary For Darrell Duane Countryman

D arrell Duane Countryman was born on Sept.14,1938, the son of Duane and Dorothy (née Crawford) Countryman and three sisters, all deceased. He married Leora, his wife of 48 years, on April 7th, 1977.

Before he retired, Darrell had a long career in the elevator trade as both an elevator constructor and serviceman. He acted as the foreman installing almost all the elevators in skyscrapers in Los Angeles before 1974, and was a serviceman and local representative in Minnesota and upper Michigan. He loved his job.

Darrell’s great loves were theology and people. Darrell went to theological school in California and was a protestant minister for about 40 years. He was sought after as a public speaker in California and Minnesota and spoke before thousands of people, many times in large stadiums. This he did easily and naturally, but his great love was working with people. He loved and cared for people. He had a great heart and helped a great number who suffered through many problems. His hobbies were many and varied, but his favorites were reading and fishing.

Darrell and Leora left their church and searched through several religions before finding the Catholic faith. They came into the true church in April 4th, 1997, followed by their children within 2 years.

Darrell is survived by his children Brian Fisher and Kathrine Warner, his grandchildren Thomas Alex Brock, Savannah Paige Warner, and Kestrel Anne Rosario, her husband Ricky, and his great granddaughter Leora Lynn Rosario.

Darrell was an outstanding husband, father, and friend. He is and will be sorely missed by his family and many many people.

May he rest in peace.
