Obituary For Darrell M. Willey
Darrell M Willey, 77, Rapid City died Sunday Sept. 12, 2010 at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center. Darrell was born in Custer, SD on January 26th 1933. He was raised and attended high school there. He became a certified Meat Cutter at the Toledo, Ohio School of Meat Cutting and worked the family grocery business “The Ranch Market” also in Custer. He served his term in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He moved to Rapid City in 1953 and was employed at Control Data and Rapid City Regional Hospital. He eventually purchased and operated a Husky Filling Station and Used Car Lot until the historic flood of June 9, 1972 destroyed the business. Darrell enjoyed automobiles to a great degree. He was extremely knowledgeable from the early horseless carriage to the present hybrids. He attended sales all over the state and would dicker to his hearts content. He was certainly a “talkative” fellow, never met a stranger and was always “high” on life.Preceded in death by his father, Irven ‘Clown’ Willey, his mother Florence M. Willey. He leaves two brothers, Donald E Willey, Rapid City; Lloyd R. Willey, Wasta and a very special friend, Irene Harrington.
