Obituary For David Melvin Lutz
David (Danny) Melvin Lutz passed away Wednesday evening, April 29th, in the presence of his loving children.
A lifelong carpenter, Danny worked on many buildings throughout Rapid City Including The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and Rapid City Regional Hospital which he received top accolades for his workmanship and leadership. He had a love for the Black Hills and was always quick to help his friends and family when they needed an extra hand.
Danny was born to Viola Rowe and Melvin Lutz in 1946 and spent much of his childhood with beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles across Western South Dakota.
Danny is remembered by his eagerness to stop the talking and get to work, his fiery protection of his loved ones, and his stubborn persistence and tenacity in life. All of these character traits live on in his five children: Vanessa Roer (Jacob)(Texas), Kimberly Pridgeon (Wyoming), Ben Lutz (Rapid), Daniel Lutz (Rapid), and Whitney (Kyle) Couillard (Brazil). Among his five children, Danny is also survived by eleven grandchildren Christian, Isabelle, Grace, Levi, Abigail, Jocelyn, Ella, Camden, Micah, Lyla, Bennett, brother Roger Rowe (Rapid), and sister Debbie Temple (Rapid).
He is preceded in death by his brother Doug Rowe, and sister Penny Bowman.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home (632 Saint Francis Street, Rapid City) Sunday , May 3th at 2:00pm. All friends and family are invited to attend.
