Obituary For Doris Mary Berg

Doris M. Berg, 78, Rapid City, died peacefully on Thursday Dec. 1, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospice House. She was born on March 4, 1933 to Joseph and Sophie Marsolek in Opole, Minnesota on her family farm.She married John R. Berg in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later relocated to Huron, South Dakota in 1961. In 1986 she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota to be closer to her daughters.She was very creative and handy in the home which included sewing, upholstery, cross stitch and various other projects. She enjoyed being in the sun, bowling, golfing, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends during her life.Survivors include her daughters Becky Braun (Clark) Rapid City; Lisa Swanson (Steve) Rapid City; Kim Van Valkenburg (Mike) Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren include Jessica Lyons, Rapid City; Hilary Boam, Rapid City; Joe Van Valkenburg, College Station, Texas; Chelsea Braun, Laramie, Wyoming; Lauryn Van Valkenburg, USAF Academy, Colorado; Kelley Van Valkenburg, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Grace Van Valkenburg, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Nychole Crawford, Tucson, Arizona; Danielle Swanson, Madison, South Dakota. Great Grandchildren include Coral Lyons, Madelynn Boam, Dylan Lyons, Ava Boam. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
