Obituary For Douglas D. Cole

Douglas D. Cole, 65, of Fairburn, SD died June 30, 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Douglas was born on November 26, 1940, in Madison, SD to Vance and Dorothy (Sullivan) Cole. He attended school in Madison, graduating from Madison High School. In 1962, Douglas married Connie Goble, they were later divorced. On November 27, 1969, Douglas and Maxine Curl were married in Rapid City. Douglas spent some time in Alaska but returned to the Hill City, Keystone area. He later moved to Shoshone, WY, and then returned to the Hill City, Custer area, finally residing in Fairburn in 2003.Douglas was employed in the mining industry in Custer and Keystone, with the Pacer Corp., for 18 years. He later became a truck driver, driving for East West Motor Express, retiring in October, 2005. Douglas enjoyed his truck and in his spare time he liked to go hunting. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his Grandchildren. Douglas was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Custer. Douglas is survived by his wife, Maxine Cole, Fairburn, SD; one son, Nathan Cole, Rapid City, SD; two daughters, Denise Byland, Rapid City, SD, Lori Cole, Fairburn, SD; 3 Grandchildren, Angela, Allison, Austin Cole; four brothers; Dennis Cole, Columbus, NE, Danny Cole Columbus, NE, Richard Cole, Columbus, NE, Dorn Cole, Hermosa, SD, three sisters; Donna Chute, Rapid City, SD, Doreen Cole, Hill City, SD, Deanne Kennedy, Kalispell, MT. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Vance Cole and Dorothy Cole, 1 brother, Dalton Cole.
