Obituary For Douglas Daniel Holm

Douglas Daniel ‘Dan’ Holm, 68, Rapid City, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Billings Advanced Care Hospital, Billings, MT. Dan was born April 13, 1948 in Brookings, SD to Jens Christian and Iris Genevieve (Filholm) Holm. He was born and raised in Brookings County, SD and graduated from Elkton High School in 1966. Dan enlisted in the US Army on May 23, 1966, he served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on December 25, 1968. Upon his discharge, he returned to Brookings for a short time. Dan lived in the Rapid City area the rest of his life.He married Deanna Totten and they had a daughter, Heather Marie and later adopted a son, Juston.Dan worked for Hills Materials and started his own business, D & J Concrete. He retired in 2010.He enjoyed hunting, guns, cars, playing cards, and was an accomplished pool player.He is survived by his wife, Kathy Tennyson; son, Juston Holm; granddaughter, Adrianna Holm; grandson, Deakon Goodman; and special friend, Sue Amick, all of Rapid City; a sister, Mary Nelson, Brookings, SD two brothers, Jens Holm, Arlington SD and Todd Holm, Stafford VA, and numerous nephews and nieces;mother-in-law, Shirley Tennyson, Rapid City and brother-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Tennyson, Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather on June 19, 1978; his wife, Deanna on July 16, 1993; and his parents.
