Obituary For Douglas James Wittenhagen

Douglas James Wittenhagen, left this world peacefully on May 4, 2015. He was 57 years young. Doug was born on August 26, 1957 in Watertown. He was the first child of James and Imogene (Shaffer) Wittenhagen. Doug grew up in Huron, graduating from Huron High school in 1975. Soon after, he joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After serving as a Sergeant, he returned to Huron for a few years before moving to Wyoming to work in the oil fields. During this time, Doug met the love of his life, Stephanie. In 1983 he moved to Rapid City and started a long career as a heavy equipment mechanic. Doug and Stephanie married on May 3, 1985. An avid hunter, Doug loved spending time out in the Black Hills. He enjoyed being with his friends and family, whether it was enjoying a movie in his home theater, wrestling with his kids, or just joking around and making people laugh. Doug is survived by his beautiful wife, Stephanie Wittenhagen; his children, Jennifer Fuchs, Nicholas Wittenhagen, and Hillary Wittenhagen; his parents, James Wittenhagen and Imogene Wittenhagen; two brothers, Craig Wittenhagen and Jeffrey Wittenhagen; his sister, Diane Wittenhagen; grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
