Obituary For Edith 'Ede' Marie Bettelyoun

Edith ‘Ede’ Marie Bettelyoun, 72, Pine Ridge, SD passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 with her family by her side.She was born to Milo and Rachel Brookens, January 19, 1942 in Kadoka, SD, the youngest of three children. She grew up in Interior. Ede graduated from Interior High School in 1960 and attended National College of Business, Rapid City. She worked at the Pine Ridge Indian Health Services for 36 years.On March 31, 1962, she married Melvin Tibbitts and to this union three children were born. Ede and Melvin were married until Melvin’s passing in 1965.On February 18, 1971, she married Isaac ‘Ike’ Bettelyoun and to this union two children were born. They were married for 43 years.Ede loved ranching (especially raising calves on brown swiss milk cows), and rodeos, where she secretaried and timed for many years. She also enjoyed going to auction and high school basketball games.With a smile, Gram gave us all a thumbs up and told us “It’s alright”.Ede is survived by husband, Ike; four children, Monte (Marsha) Tibbitts, Michelle ‘Kakes’ (Gilbert) Tibbitts, Jason Bettelyoun, JoDee Bettelyoun; grandchildren, Melvin and Monica Tibbitts, Jade, Jace and Jhet Janis, Shira Bettelyoun, Kade Bettelyoun; great grandchild, Kyren Tibbitts; a brother, Eugene Brookens and a sister, Alice Grooms.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin, daughter, Tina Marie Tibbitts and parents, Milo and Rachel Brookens.
