Obituary For Ella Loewen Maier

Ella Loewen Maier, 87, Rapid City, died October 5, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born Jan 1, 1924 to Jacob C and Lena (Ratzlaff) Loewen in Richey, Montana where she grew up and attended Victory School. She later worked at N.P. Hospital. Ella married Reuben Maier Oct. 12, 1946 in Glendive, Montana. She worked at various jobs. In 1966 Ella moved to Rapid City and worked for Dr. Norris, DVM and also SCI (control data assembly line). She was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church and TOPS Club. She volunteered at Rapid City Regional Hospital and participated in senior games. She enjoyed walking; gardening and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Ella is survived by her daughters Rose (Tom) Sampson, Baker, MT and Gloria (Dennis) Zmuda, Maumee, OH; her son Michael (Cindy) Maier, Rapid City; grandchildren, Jeff Sampson, Bismarck, ND; Jodi (Brian) Henderson, Lewistown, MT; Dale (Heather) Zmuda, Navarre, FL; Troy (Ally) Zmuda, Toledo, OH; Heidi Maier, Big Sky, MT and Megan Maier, Pierre, SD; great grandchildren, Cody, Jake, Liam, Sara, Piper, Jack and Summer; her sisters, Helen (Don) Warhenthein, Willow Lake and Janice Smith, Cheyenne, WY. She is preceded in death by her husband Reuben Maier, Nov. 10, 1992; her parents, Jacob and Lena, brothers, Albert, John, Corney and sisters Esther, Susie and Ida.
