Obituary For Elmer William Allmendinger

Elmer W. Allmendinger, 95, entered The Kingdom of Heaven on December 3, 2025 in Hot Springs, SD. A visitation will be held at East Gate Funeral Home in Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Derek Harkins officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Vet Cemetery in Bismarck.

Elmer was born Sept. 18, 1930, the son of Fred and Amelia Allmendinger. He attended Dodge High School, graduating in 1948. In June 1950, he went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad in Bismarck and retired Sept. 1, 1992 with 42 years of service. He served in the Army from 1951-1953 and was discharged with the rank of SGT. 1 year was spent in Korea.

He served on the board of the Mandan Railroad Credit Union for 20 years and the last few years as Director, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1954, and served on the Church Council, Worship Committee, ushered and Men of Faith. He enjoyed walking, bowling, and golf. He did the Crop Walk many times and made Mary College Hill three times. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed working in his yard with the many flowers he planted each year.

Elmer met Marlene Garrett and they got married on Oct. 28. 1954 in Central City, NE, then had 1 son and 2 daughters.

Elmer is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Tom, Rapid City, SD. Dawn and Garrett Nelson, Brooklyn Park, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, Rebecca and husband Chris Rudolph, Rapid City, SD, Jessica and husband Jamin, Rapid City, SD, Johnathan and Hannah, Dallas, TX, Leighton and Landon and Nicole, all from Maple Grove, MN; great grandchildren; Josiah, Kaylee, Elias, and Isaac.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, son Kevin, sisters- Lorraine Keller, Laverne Rohde, Lenora Mohl, and Alma Allmendinger. Also, a very dear friend, Maxine Pankow, Minot, ND.
