Obituary For Emil Paul Tech

Emil P. Tech was born on September 11, 1921 in Gregory, SD, the son of Minnie (Henning) and A. Emil Tech. He died June 27, 2015 at Holiday Hills Estate in Rapid City at the age of 93. He was born on a farm in Gregory County and was baptized and later was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Gregory. He was the youngest of 9 boys and 2 girls. He received his education in a rural school near his home. After completing his education he worked with his father on the farm. When Emil’s folks moved into Gregory, he went to Benton, KS where he did combining and farm work. Emil then served in the 2nd Armory Division from 1942 to 1945, serving in the European theater, including Belgium, Germany, Berlin, etc.. After returning from war, he returned to Benton, KS where he did farm work. He returned to SD and worked on the Oahe Dam in Pierre and the Big Bend Dam in Chamberlain. Emil later moved to Windom, MN where he did work on small office equipment, typewriters, adding machines and also drove the mail truck from Windom to the surrounding towns delivering mail. He moved to Rapid City in 1986 where he retired. After a decrease in his health, Emil stayed with his great niece Roxanna Kuxhaus and husband Dave, with assistance from his niece Dorothy McMillin, all of Rapid City for a few months until he moved to Holiday Hills Estates Retirement Home where he lived until his death. Emil was a life time member of the NRA and VFW Post 9950 in Burke, SD and a supporter of SD Gun Owners. He loved reading, especially old westerns and was an avid competition shooter, earning many trophies. Emil, being the last survivor of his immediate family, never married, but leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
