Obituary For Enid June Besancon

Enid June Besancon, 91, of Rapid City died on October 22, 2015 at Golden Living Center Bella Vista. She was born on June 15, 1924 in Denver, CO to Harvey M. and Olga K. (Anderson) Mortensen. The young family moved to Valley Springs, SD and later to Deadwood, SD, where Enid graduated from Deadwood High School in 1942. Enid married Clark Besancon on June 28, 1947 in Rapid City, and they had three children.Enid greatly enjoyed researching genealogy, and made numerous trips to Salt Lake City where she conducted research at the Family History Library. As a result of this research, she traced her lineage to Denmark royalty. Enid was a charter member of South Canyon Lutheran Church. She was a longtime member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She also enjoyed listening to music (particularly the piano), reading, collecting tea cups and salt & pepper shakers, and attending performances at the Black Hills Playhouse. One of her greatest lifelong joys was to go on rides by car through the Black Hills; she never tired of viewing the beautiful scenery! Enid was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings - Audrey M. Andrews of Long Beach, CA, Andrew C. Mortensen of Williston, ND, and Leland O. Mortensen of Ontario, CA.She is survived by her son Bill Besancon of Salt Lake City, UT, daughters Kathy A. Reichert of Rapid City and Susan B. Besancon (Alfredo Ramirez) of San Juan, PR, grandson Andrew P. Reichert (Kimberly) of McCall, ID, granddaughters Cristina I. Ramirez of Norristown, PA, and Emily S. Ramirez of Easton, PA, and three great-grandchildren Abigail, Hannah and Amanda.
