Obituary For Evelyn Sophie Tornow

Evelyn S. Tornow, 76, Rapid City formerly of the Murdo/Presho area, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Golden Livingcenter-Bella Vista. Evelyn was born August 5, 1937 at home in Presho to August and Josephine (Weber) Dreier. She graduated from high school in Presho in 1955 where she was homecoming queen and class valedictorian.Evelyn married Francis ‘Sonny’ Tornow on October 17, 1959 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Presho. They lived in that area where she worked at Hubbard Implement, the State of South Dakota, in Pierre and in accounting for West Central Electric retiring in 2002 after 42 years of employment.Evelyn was an active member of the Catholic Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, Sonny Tornow, 2 sons, Derek (Jo) Tornow, Jason Tornow, a daughter, Darci (Kelly) Lanam all of Rapid City; 6 grandchildren, Michelle and Tyler Lanam, Samantha, Ali, Teddy and Kylie Tornow; her twin sister, Irene (Clifford) Swartz, Cleveland, OH, and twin sisters, Veny (Lloyd) Thompson, Pierre, Viny Oleson, Grand Island, NE.She was preceded in death by an infant son, Greg Allen Tornow, a brother, Joe Dreier and a sister, Laura Seeley.
