Obituary For Floyd Sharp

FLOYD “DALE” SHARP, 73, Rapid City, passed away peacefully May 19, after a lengthy illness. He was living in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his children, daughter Darcie and husband David Stickler of Rapid City, son Daniel and wife Ivonne, Casper, Wyoming, three grandchildren, Danielle, Andrew and Lucia, sister Valera Jackson-Gissen and husband, Matthew, Miami, Florida, Brother Donald Sharp and wife Beth, Kittanning, Pennsylvania and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dale was preceded in death by loving parents, Floyd and Honor Sharp of Rapid City. Born in Rapid City on October 19, 1941, Dale grew up in Rapid City enjoying family and many friends. He had a love of cars and could usually be found with his head under the hood over an engine trying to make that car go faster. His good humor and love of “living the day” traveled him many places. He served in the National Guard and then worked construction and later enjoyed the danger of high rise building construction as a career. During his illness during the past 3 years, his attitude was positive, his complaints few, and his favorite saying, with a chuckle, “…if I knew I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself.” Dale was a free spirit who enjoyed whatever was to come in life and so he shall be in the hereafter.
