Obituary For Franklin Floyd Shortey

Shortey died May 5 in Rapid City, SD. He was born in Ganado into the Honey Comb Rock Clan for the Mexican Clan. Shortey graduated from Ganado High School in 1982. An well known painter or better recognized as "The Diné Hide Painter of the Northern Plains". Shortey enjoyed a lifestyle of traveling and ranching always searching beyond the horizon for something new. Survivors include his son, Michael V. Shortey of Albuquerque; brothers, Timothy V. Shortey of Klagetoh; sisters, Debbie F. Nez of Scottsdale and Beverly Shortey of Winslow. Shortey was preceded in death by David F. Shortey, Sr; Frances B. Tsosie; and David Shortey, Jr.
